Volunteers who are working within the classroom will be coordinated by the office staff.  Please be sure that you have met the proper volunteer guidelines (completion of the Protecting God’s Children program and Illinois Background Check) before requesting to participate in any school activity.  Volunteers must sign in and out at the front office and obtain a volunteer identification lanyard when in the school.  All volunteers are expected to be models of Christ at all times and maintain confidentiality regarding students and staff. 

Protecting God's Children

 As mandated by the Diocese of Rockford, Holy Cross Catholic School volunteers who work with children under the age of 18 must participate in Protecting God’s Children Program.  The two-part program is approximately three hours and must be completed before any volunteer work can be started at HCCS.  This applies to lunchroom supervisors, field trip chaperones, room moms, coaches, classroom volunteers, etc.  Opportunities for attending the program or completing it now on-line will be available throughout the year.  Click here for instructions on how to complete Protecting God's Children.

 
Background Check
 
As mandated by the State of Illinois, all volunteers will need to complete an Illinois Background Check before working with children at Holy Cross Catholic School.  A form available in the school office must be submitted with a $10.00 check made out to Holy Cross.  The office staff can let you know when all required paperwork is on file making a volunteer eligible for service. 
 
Diocese of Rockford Safe Environment Program
 
Per the Diocese of Rockford Safe Environment Program, all volunteers must read and  fill out the following forms and turn them into the School Office prior to being able to volunteer at the school:

• Code of Pastoral Conduct Form
• Sexual Misconduct Norms Form
• Guidelines for Youth Form
• Code of Technology and Social Media Form
